We care about our church

There are many ways to serve at Abbott. Whether welcoming guests, supporting worship, or helping others in the community, we invite you to get involved.

Help create a welcoming and friendly environment at Abbott. Volunteers greet people with a warm smile on Sunday mornings. They assist guests as they arrive and help newcomers feel at home. The hospitality team may also help serve at church gatherings and outreach events such as Party in the Park and other fellowship events throughout the year.

We invite volunteers to help in our nursery. You can be a teacher or an assistant in the children's ministry. This is a meaningful way to help children grow in their faith and experience God’s love. All volunteers must complete MinistrySafe training and follow our church’s procedures for working with children and youth.

Volunteers help prepare communion before the service, assist with serving during worship, and help clean up afterward. This team helps the church observe this meaningful time of remembrance together.

Each week, a volunteer reads the Scripture passage that will be the focus of the sermon. This is a simple but meaningful way to participate in the worship service

Do you have an interest in audio, video, livestreaming, or social media? Our media team helps support worship through sound, slides, and livestream. Roles may include balancing sound during the service, running the slideshow, managing the livestream, or helping create content for our social media

Sometimes the simplest way to help someone attend church is by offering a ride. Volunteers in this ministry help transport attendees to Sunday service when they have no other way to get there

We care about our city

Abbott is located in a community with many needs. Here are some ways you can help make a difference

We Care Bags

Abbott distributes bags filled with essential food items to help reduce food insecurity in our neighborhood. Many of the individuals we serve are experiencing unemployment, hardship, or are working to overcome addiction.

Volunteers serve by purchasing groceries, assembling the care bags, and distributing them to those in our community who are seeking help. Through this ministry, we aim to meet practical needs while showing the compassion and care of Christ.

Financial Assistance & Care

Our church often receives requests for help with utility bills, housing costs, and other basic needs. This ministry helps us support people in our community with financial difficulties.

Volunteers can serve by meeting with individuals, listening to their needs, connecting them with local resources, and helping guide them toward support that the church may be able to provide. We seek to encourage and support them spiritually as they navigate these challenges.

We would love to connect with you if you are interested in serving in this ministry

Supporting Those in Recovery & Reentry

The Lord has placed Abbott in a community with many real needs. Every week, people come to us for help. They are struggling with addiction or trying to rebuild their lives after incarceration. Because our church is located near several halfway houses, we often meet neighbors who are looking for support, encouragement, and a fresh start

Some join us for worship and need practical help such as transportation, clothing, housing resources, and connections to employment. As a church family, we want to walk alongside them with compassion, dignity, and the love of Christ

Mission & Community Partnerships

Abbott actively shares the love of Christ both in our city and around the world. We partner with missionaries, campus ministries, and local organizations that are serving communities, supporting families, and sharing the Gospel. We are grateful to support our partners through prayer, encouragement, and financial help as they serve faithfully in Baltimore and around the world
